The Metamorphosis

Three Dimensional Type

Course: Typography II
Date: Fall 2019
Goal: To choose a novel and design a book jacket using three dimensional typography inspired by the major themes and motifs found within the narrative.

For this project I chose Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis.

My book jacket emphasizes the themes of passage of time, change in relationships, and decay which I felt propelled the narrative of the novel. I also wanted to use the motif of the apple which is intended to represent the moment in the book that I felt was most central to these themes.
